Puppy Preschool

DON’T WAIT TO GET STARTED!

While your puppy may not be ready for obedience training, the first few months of a puppy’s life are crucial to how they will respond and interact for the rest of their life. It is important to help introduce your puppy to handling and socialization exercises early.

COST: $200/puppy

Puppy Preschool consists of three parts:

  • In class, your puppy will learn to control his/her impulses around other puppies. A trainer will introduce your puppy to a variety of objects, such as a wheelchair, a noisy kids toy, or standing on an imbalanced surface. The puppy is praised and rewarded, which helps prevent him/her from developing anxiety with strange objects/noises.

  • Teaching your puppy to accept touch by playing with their paws, ears, belly, and brushing their teeth. This gets the puppy comfortable with being handled for any future need, like nail trims, grooming, ear cleaning, etc. Then you will trade puppies with another client and they will perform the handling also, to teach your puppy to socialize them with other people such as friends/family.

  • Educational Topics
Each puppy preschool will cover one or two of the following topics such as grooming, housebreaking, dental hygiene, first aid kits, spay/neuter info, fleas/heartworms, etc.

OTHER TRAINING/SERVICES

  • General confidence building, socialization exercises, and distraction exercises!

  • Picking out your new puppy or dog! I can perform puppy temperament tests on a litter, to help you find the dog to best fit your lifestyle!

PLEASE NOTE:

All clients are required to supply or purchase an appropriate leash and collar. Proper Paws will recommend the gear best suited for your dog. These items will be available for purchase during your first training session.
